Imaging the Postoperative Orbit

چکیده
Facial nerve de fi cits can lead to keratitis secondary to lagophthalmos and decreased lacrimal gland secretions. The weights are available in different sizes and shapes, including thin pro fi le. Eyelid weights are usually implanted subcutaneously and secured to the tarsus in the upper eyelid, enabling eye closure (Fig. 2.1 ). Gold eyelid weights are considered MRI compatible. Over 90 % of patients experience improved visual acuity after this procedure. Complications related to eyelid implantation include infection, allergic reaction, migration, and extrusion. Closure of the orbicularis over the implant reduces the risk of extrusion. Imaging the Postoperative Orbit

Magnetic Resonance Imaging Assessment of Hip Abductor after Total Hip Arthroplasty Using a Direct Lateral Approach
Background: Surgical techniques and rehabilitations after total hip arthroplasty (THA) play a significant role in theimprovement of pain and limping. This study aimed to assess hip abductor muscle’s diameter and its strength after 6months postoperative THA performed by Hardinge approach. Methods: After obtaining the patients’ demographic characteristics, the preoperative values...
متن کاملMalignant solitary fibrous tumour of the orbit.
PURPOSE We aimed to report a case of orbital solitary fibrous tumour (SFT) in a child and to review the relevant literature. METHODS We describe an SFT in a 13-year-old boy with a 1-month history of painless proptosis in the left eye. RESULTS Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a well circumscribed mass filling most of the left intraconal orbit. The lesion was excised and histopathological ...
متن کاملSchwannoma of the Orbit
BACKGROUND A schwannoma is a benign, slow-growing peripheral nerve sheath tumor that originates from Schwann cells. Orbital schwannomas are rare, accounting for only 1% of all orbital neoplasms. In this study, we retrospectively review orbital schwannomas and characterize clinical, radiologic, and histologic features of this rare entity. METHODS A retrospective review was performed to identif...
متن کاملOsteoplastic Reconstruction of Post-enucleatic Microorbitalism
BACKGROUND Patients who have undergone enucleation during infancy due to retinoblastoma can develop microorbitalism due to the decreased growth stimulation from the eyeball and the surrounding soft tissues. Anatomically, the orbit consist of parts of the frontal bone superiorly, the maxilla inferiorly, the ethmoid bone medially, and the zygoma laterally. Considering the possibility of surgicall...
متن کاملA Rare Penetrating Trauma of Both Orbit and Nasal Cavity
Introduction: Diagnosis of orbital foreign body (FB) penetration is usually obvious when part of the FB is still attached at the entry wound (1). However, the depth and course of the FB in this case was not visible. Case Report: A 5-year old female presented with a pencil penetrating the left orbit. A computed tomography (CT) scan showed that the pencil penetrated the left orbit (extraseptal)...
